Diplomats and Sportsmen

"Old Sportsmen Never Die, They Just Ski Away." Pictured on this old issue of Niroo-Rasti is the "Gang of Three Qajars" which reaped many ski medals in 1944-46. Standing from left to right are Manouchehr Khan, Khadijeh and Parviz Sepahbody. Two brothers with their sister. You can also see a recent picture of Manouchehr Khan some fifty years later at the Shemshak ski resort near Tehran. The Sepahbody's are still kicking and skiing in 1998! Which proves that skiing is healthy. You are constantly energized, and like the batteries of the same name, you keep going and going and going....

Also skiing, for sure, is better than politics. Below, you can see photos of Khadijeh Sepahbody, center receiving the trophy of "Lady Champion Skier of Iran" circa 1945. The cutting from an old Teheran Ettelaat magazine reads as follow. The champion skiers from the years 1949/1950 behind the table of trophies. From left to right, Fereydoun Azima, Benig Amirian, Bahador (Boris) Fiaper, one skier not identified, Esmail Panjeh-Shir, Ebrahim (Staka) Fiaper, Khadijeh Sepahbody (Women Ski Champ, center) Ali Baghai, Ovanes Magredoun, Ovik and Abbas Shirojan, Reza Barteh. In the background is Guilanpour another famous skier of Iran. Also look at a cover from "Ettelaat" with Khadijeh and a background of the majestic Damavand mountain.
