Quantity. Quantifiers act as filters on an ensuing prototype, selecting an amount, number, or bunch of the prototype.
Most amounts imply any type of ensuing prototype: indivisible, mass, or countable.
A bunch implies an ensuing mass or countable prototype.
A number implies an ensuing countable prototype. Numbers above "one" determine a plural marker that is overtly specified later, either by a verbal suffix for a subject or by a nominal suffix for a nonsubject.
In addition to their filtering function, introducer quantifiers serve to introduce an object into the Cognitive Image, while referential quantifiers apply to objects already introduced into the Image. Some types of quantifiers are both introducers and referentials.
